'Frozen 2' Release Date News: Hit Animated Movie Sequel Expected to Premiere in 2019
It is still a long wait before fans get to watch the continuation of Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Princess Anna's (Kristen Bell) story as many believe that "Frozen 2" is not set to premiere until 2019.
The speculated schedule for the movie sequel was recently reiterated in a round-up report by The Telegraph where it was stated that Disney has already announced their movie roadmap for 2017 and 2018, and unfortunately, "Frozen 2" is not included.
Some of the movies included in the mentioned two-year schedule are "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (May 2017), "Cars 3" (June 2017), "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" (May 2017), "Thor: Ragnarok" (November 2017), "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (December 2017), "Avengers: Infinity War" (May 2018), Han Solo spin-off film (May 2018), and many more.
However, it is important to note that Disney has yet to make it official that "Frozen 2" will be included in their 2019 line-up.
The Telegraph recalled that Disney's chief executive officer Robert Iger once said in 2015 that the studio is "not demanding speed" but "demanding excellence" in terms of making the movie.
In a press release confirming the production of "Frozen 2" back in 2015, Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios chief creative officer John Lasseter said, "Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we're taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that."
On the other hand, fans would definitely love to hear that the main actors behind the voices of Elsa, Anna, and Olaf (Josh Gad) will be back for the second movie.
News broke that the cast of "Frozen 2" will soon be back in the studio after Bell told Collider in March 2016 that she thinks they "should be recording" for the sequel soon. However, in September 2016, Bell admitted to the same publication, "I thought we were about to start recording, but I was mistaken. So, we haven't begun yet. They're putting the finishing touches on the script."
The first movie was one of the most successful titles of all-time from Disney, garnering a box office record of more than $1.2 billion worldwide from a $150 million budget, as per Box Office Mojo's report.
