'Frozen 2' to Feature LGBT Theme?
The upcoming Disney film "Frozen 2" will feature an LGBT theme, based on the latest rumors.
As of now, the official plot of "Frozen 2" has not yet been announced, so fans are constantly trying to speculate on the possible story lines of the popular Disney movie. Since writer Jennifer Kee revealed that the upcoming animation will tackle societal issues that young people are dealing with, there have been rumors that those issues may be about the LGBT community, according to a Movie Pilot report cited by Youth Health Mag.
Kee also said they plan to take advantage of kids' tendency to watch Disney movies repeatedly to deliver an important message. She said they will focus on important issues happening in the present society.
"We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with … When the kids watch [Disney movies], they watch them over and over again," Youth Health quotes Kee's statement about the film. "And if we don't have a decent message in there, I think we've missed an opportunity."
There are some speculations that "Frozen 2" will introduce a gay character. There are also others who think Queen Elsa will be revealed as the gay lead character, since the original movie did not show her with a male love interest, the report details.
Christian Post said the upcoming animation film will cover Queen Elsa's childhood and how she got her magical powers. It will also reveal that Princess Anna also has her own powers, but this rumor is still unconfirmed, Movie News Guide reports.
"Frozen" featured Queen Elsa's journey in learning how to open up herself to others and enjoy her uniqueness. In Disney's short film "Frozen Fever," Elsa will be seen as a fun character, and Kee said fans will see more of that character in "Frozen 2."
As of now, there is still no confirmed plot for "Frozen 2." More details about Queen Elsa and Princess Anna's next adventures in the upcoming movie are expected to emerge in the coming months.
