Fuller Graduates Walk at 56th Commmencement

Trained and equipped to face the challenges of the diverse world

PASADENA, Calif. - Fuller Theological Seminary's 56th commencement saw a packed house of more than 4,000 people at Lake Avenue Church on the morning of June 11.

In his address to the graduating class of nearly 700 men and women, Richard J. Mouw, president of Fuller, said they have worked hard and have received a degree, training, and preparation for a world that has many challenges.

Now with an education from one of the three schools of Theology, Psychology, and Intercultural Studies, each graduate has been well equipped and have a sturdy background to meet the challenges of this diverse world, he continued in his charge.

Around 500 people walked to be handed their diplomas at this year's commencement. The class of 2005 consisted of students from 30 different countries and 80 denominations.

Not only was the graduating class a diverse mix of peoples, but the thousands of friends and family members who filled the church came from all over the world as well.

Taking the graduates and audience back to Fuller's historic mission, Mouw spoke of the radio program from which the Gospel was continuously preached for almost 38 years by Charles E. Fuller, founder and chairman of the seminary. Heard internationally ever since 1937, the broadcast was an important witness for Jesus Christ, said Mouw, and Fuller Seminary continues to be that important witness.
