Fuller Inspires Future Healthcare Mission Leaders
PASADENA, Calif. - Inspiring future healthcare mission leaders, the 2005 Healthcare Missions Conference hosted by Fuller Theological Seminary, took place at the Pasadena campus on June 24-25, 2005.
Nearly 250 people joined to hear more than 50 influential speakers discuss the role of healthcare in the mission field at Fuller Theological Seminary this past weekend.
This is the second year the Christian Medical and Dental Association partnered with Fuller to inspire people for future work in healthcare missions.
Attendants, ranging in ethnic diversity and professions, from Fuller students to missionaries and physicians, had the opportunity to network, learn new techniques and become more aware of the practices in healthcare missions.
Workshops and concurrent and plenary sessions featured such speakers as David Stevens, executive director of CMDA, Stan Rowland, international coordinator for Medical Ambassadors and initiator of the Community Health Evangelism, and Paul Yoo, a certified accupuncturist and doctor of oriental medicine.
Various medical and missions organizations including InterServe West Coast, HIS Foundation, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, FriendShips, and others, set up booths to exhibit their work and provide conference attendants the chance to explore their options as they get involved in healthcare missions.
Next year's conference, which is expected to feature greater speaker diversity and have a greater international presence, is tentatively scheduled for June 23-24th.
