He was also invited the Christian university to give the commencement speech to some 200 of his fellow graduates of higher degrees, according to Fuller Seminary news release.
"It is a special privilege to receive this recognition from a university which I hold in such high regard academically and personally," said Dr. Mouw. "Pepperdine graduates are making a significant impact in the community and the world, and I consider it an honor to serve alongside them."
Mouws address was not only made to the graduates, but also to the Pepperdine faculty.
"Dr. Mouw delivered an inspiring graduation address, utilizing personal anecdotes as well as scholarly and biblical references to illuminate the meaning of Pepperdine University's mission as a Christian university committed to academic excellence and strengthening students for lives of purpose, service, and leadership," said Robert deMayo, associate dean of psychology at Pepperdine. "Dr. Mouw congratulated the graduates for their academic accomplishments, and provided them with encouragement as they begin the journey of applying their knowledge in the service of relieving human suffering."
