Funcom creates horror-thriller game 'The Park', to be released in October 2015
Widely known for its massively multiplayer online role-playing game titles "Age of Conan," "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey," and "The Secret World," developer Funcom is set to release again a new game. According to Game Spot, the Norwegian studio announced last Wednesday that it would be releasing a single-player horror game for PC called "The Park."
The game will follow the character Lorraine, a mother whose son Callum goes missing in a creepy amusement park. The official description reads, "When night falls and the lights go out, what follows is a short, but intense horror story set against the backdrop of an amusement park where a dark and sinister secret is just waiting to be uncovered."
The announcement trailer video released attests to the eerie feel of the game, showing what seemed like a frightening rollercoaster ride of Lorraine singing to the tune of a children's song. The amusement park is creepy, intense, and dark which is actually confirmed to be tied into Funcom's previous game "The Secret World," reports The Sixth Axis.
As stated in Polygon, Funcom CEO Rui Casais revealed in the press release that the game "The Park" is actually the "outcome of what started with a small group of developers experimenting with new concepts." He also said that the group had been looking into ways that they can use to draw upon the existing narrative universe that they have previously built for their MMO TSW. This is the company's first single-player game since 2006's "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey." Casais commented that the experience of creating once again a single-player game has been very exciting and "creatively energizing" for the team, according to IGN.
The trailer video did not reveal the details of how the game will play but interested gamers will be able to know soon as the game will be released this coming October, just in time for Halloween.
