U.S. Gymnast Gabby Douglas had landed on the cover of Cornflakes boxes around the nation after winning her second Olympic gold medal on Thursday.
The 16-year-old, whose nickname is Flying Squirrel, signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Kellogg's shortly after winning the women's gymnastics all-around title and the big win could see her earn up to $10 million in endorsement deals, according to new reports.
"As a 16-year-old, she has really got kind of the sky is the limit. She brings so many intangibles that marketers look for. She's young. She's fresh. She's a new face," media consultant Joe Favorito told CBS News.
Douglas, who began gymnastic training at age six, made history as the first ever African-American female and the third straight American to take home the solo all-around title just days after winning gold with the U.S. "Fierce Five" team.
The teen signed her first major deal with Procter and Gamble shortly after the Olympic trials. She admitted that winning is not always easy.
"It's sometimes hard for me to focus. I don't know. It's a human being thing," Douglas said moments after winning the all-around gold. "I'm like, 'Look, something shiny! No, focus. Oh, yeah, there goes a butterfly!' "
Liang Chow, Douglas' coach, said that while Douglas has had a lot to celebrate in recent days she is still ready for more gold. She is competing in uneven bars on Monday and balance beam on Tuesday.
"She had two good days of training after the all-around," Chow said. "She's still fighting for more medals."
Various Hollywood celebrities took to social networking site Twitter to praise Douglas historic Olympic win.
"Glad i lived to see what Gabby Douglas did in the Olympics. Icon," rapper Li'l Wayne tweeted.
President Barack Obama also congratulated Douglas, as did Grammy award winning singer Beyonce.
"A huge congratulations to 16 year old Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas - WOW - what a thrill to watch you take this Gold! I can tell you've been working hard for so long - enjoy this moment, its yours. Thank you for inspiring all of us!" Beyonce wrote in a blog on her personal website.
