On the path to pursuing Olympic gold, gymnast Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas is bringing reality television cameras along for the ride.

The 20-year-old will star in the upcoming Oxygen docu-series called "Douglas Family Gold" starting May 25. In the show, the Christian gymnast, who made history as the first African-American All-Around Olympic Gold Medalist, will showcase her family along with her talents as she prepares for the Olympic games scheduled to take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil this summer.

"This time, as Gabby trains tirelessly in Ohio with her grandmother by her side, the rest of the family keeps busy juggling Gabby's business and their own lives back in California," a press release for the show reads. "Her brother John is a standout athlete in track, while devoted sisters Arie and Joy are eager to blaze their own paths with 'Momager' Natalie keeping this tight-knit family in-check. With Gabby's dogged determination and her family's unwavering support, this dream team proves that sometimes things are better the second time around."

Douglas is the first female to win both all-around and team gold medals at the same Olympics in 2012. While she prepares for the 2016 Olympic games, Douglas and her family live hectic bi-coastal lives between California and Ohio.

Still, the show will make it clear that their sacrifice is a huge reason for her success.

"Behind her meteoric rise was a supportive family willing to sacrifice everything for years to help her dream," the release from Oxygen media reads.

After releasing her first book, Grace, Gold and Glory in 2012, she has allowed the world into her life and shared the details of her story. Some of that story consists of hardships like homelessness, health issues and a broken family.

However, Douglas previously told The Christian Post that those hardships have made her stronger.

"I think (those experiences) helped me become a stronger and more mature person and that was my motivation. I remember my mom telling me that we were homeless," Douglas previously revealed. "Stories about that, that was my motivation…People are out there going through tough times. I went through hardships like a blood disease, homelessness, moved to Iowa, injuries and I had to overcome all of those things to get to where I am today."

Douglas has made it clear that she has overcome those trying times and achieved success because of her Christian faith.

"It was definitely important for me to praise God because he's given me this God-given talent to go out there and represent him and share my faith with everyone," Douglas previously told CP. "I mean I'm not going to hold it in because he's blessed me so much throughout my gymnastics career. He's woken me up every single morning and he's just been so great to me, so I'm going to go and share it with everyone because it's a part of me and it's just who I am."
