Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Priced at $299

The price for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone will most likely start at $299 with a contract, according to gizmocrunch.com.

The reasoning behind this price is that the device will be Verizon bound and packs a LTE chip which makes it 4G ready.

When Samsung and Google unveiled the new smartphone they did not mention anything about pricing.

Android Central also commented on the situation.

“British online retailer Clove is the first to offer up SIM-free U.K. pricing for the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which was unveiled yesterday in Hong Kong. On its official blog, Clove says that it’s “confirmed” the price at £514.80 inc.VAT ($825), with a initial stock of the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered treats apparently arriving “at the beginning of November.”

If this information proves to be true, the Galaxy Nexus will cost more than the iPhone 4S which is probably the case since it features state-of-the-art hardware.

Samsung together with Google hosted the “Mobile Unpacked” event where they announced that the upcoming Galaxy Nexus smartphone will be available sometime in November.

They also confirmed the smartphone's official name as the Galaxy Nexus.

The new device will sport impressive specs including a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display and a 5 megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p HD.

It will also be the first device to run on Google’s new Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The Galaxy Nexus will feature a unique curved design with a slip resistant hyper-skin backing.

It will also include NFC (Near Field Communications), and perform on LTE networks and possibly HSPA+, according to the demand for the smartphone.

The smartphone’s 4.65-inch screen video in a 16:9 widescreen ratio rivaling HD televisions.

In terms of hardware it easily trumps the newest iPhone 4S.
