Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Review Roundup
The United States release date for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Nexus smartphone is set sometime before the end of November; however, some technology websites have already received and reviewed the new Android smartphone.
The device recently became available in the United Kingdom.
The Verge praised the new Galaxy Nexus.
“The Galaxy Nexus is the best Android phone ever made. It’s one of the best smartphones ever made, and with a couple of minor tweaks (particularly the camera), it could be the best smartphone ever produced,” said Verge’s review.
CNet was not as enthusiastic about the new smartphone.
“The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a big step forward for Android, but it’s not the giant leap you may have been expecting. As impressive as it is, Ice Cream Sandwich can be messy, and without it the Galaxy Nexus is just another Android device,” said CNet’s review.
Wired also weighed in on the Android device, giving more credit to Ice Cream Sandwich.
“After all of my fawning over the hardware, I must admit: However compelling the Galaxy Nexus is at first sight, the star of this show isn’t made of glass and plastic. No, it’s the software underneath,” said Wired’s review.
Engadget shared another positive outlook on the device.
“Like its predecessors, the Galaxy Nexus is shaping up to be an impressive flagship phone and Android 4.0 is a significant step forward for Google,” said Engadget’s review.
The reviews for the new smartphone seem to be mixed with some praising the device and others opposing.
In some areas, Ice Cream Sandwich seems to be stealing the show.
The Galaxy Nexus is set to arrive in the United States in the coming weeks.
