Galaxy Note 10.1 Android 4.4 Update Now Rolling Out
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Android 4.4, KitKat update is now rolling out to users in the U.S.
Overseas, the Wi-Fi variant started receiving it last week and now those in the U.S. can enjoy this same great upgrade. The 3G and 4G updates for the major carrier models should roll out shortly.
The update brings several new features including wireless printing support, full screen album, new camera shortcut, white status bar icons, enhanced sound controls, default home, SMS apps and stability improvements. Users can check for the update in the Settings menu.
Samsung unveiled the new version of the tablet during the company's unpacked event last year where the Galaxy Note 3 was also introduced.
"Last year's launch of the Galaxy Note 10.1 introduced the integration of S PenTM capabilities to the tablet category and created a new experience for consumers," said Travis Merrill, vice president of tablet marketing at Samsung Electronics America. "We continue to evolve the Galaxy Note experience with the new Note 10.1-2014 Edition. With premium software features and a sophisticated design, we're delivering an exceptional and even more engaging tablet experience."
The new device follows up last year's Galaxy Note 10.1 and features more impressive specs than its predecessor. It will come with a similar design to the new Galaxy Note 3 with stitching on the backing that is made from a different type of plastic.
Specifications on the device include a 10.1-inch WQXGA LCD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 for the LTE version and a 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 5 processor for the 3G Wi-Fi version, 3GB RAM, 16/32/64GB of internal memory, microSD support, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, Bluetooth 4.0, USB, 2.0, S-Pen and a 8220mAh battery. It will also come running Android 4.3, JellyBean out of the box.
