Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Rolls Out for AT&T

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update started rolling out for AT&T this week.

The new software is almost identical to the versions that were released for Sprint and T-Mobile and brings some new Samsung specific features such as an enhanced multi-window mode, camera improvements, updates to several Samsung apps, a new easy mode, Samsung Knox support and added support for the Galaxy Gear.

It also fixes a few unspecified bugs and makes the device faster overall. The update could take a few days to reach all AT&T Galaxy Note 2 users. Those who do not feel like waiting could check for the update manually in the Settings menu.

The Galaxy Note 2 launched in the fall of 2012 and became one of Samsung's most popular products. The device features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels at 265 ppi. It also comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front shooter, a Samsung Exynos 4 chip, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a 3100mAh battery.

The Note 2 originally launched with Android 4.1.1, JellyBean on board. In order to function with the Galaxy Gear Android 4.3 is required. The software will also need to be up to date in order to upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat. That version should be coming up once Android 4.3 roll out is complete.

The Galaxy Note 3 was released a few months back and runs Android 4.2 out of the box. It has been updated to Android 4.3 on many carriers and will probably receive Android 4.4 before the 2nd-generation model.

Samsung is already planning the specs for the Galaxy Note 4 which will launch sometime next year. The new model will come with a fingerprint sensor and might feature an LCD display.
