Galaxy Note 3 Type Galaxy S4 to Be Released in Other Markets This Month

The black Galaxy S4 that takes design tips from the Galaxy Note 3 will reach other markets starting later this month.

This version will debut in Russia next month and Samsung announced earlier today that it will be available in "select markets" from around the world starting this month. The company will also roll out a version of the Galaxy S4 mini with the same look.

This new version of the device features the same leather-like backing found on the Galaxy Note 3 and sports a strong black reminiscent of the Galaxy S2. The rest of the specs found on this Galaxy S4 are basically the same as other models.

The Black Edition will launch next month in Russia at the equivalent of $660. This could be a hard model to push in other markets considering the fact that the company will launch the Galaxy S5 sometime in the near future.

The next-gen Samsung flagship smartphone could be unveiled and possibly released at a low key event in Barcelona, Spain next month.

The New York Times is reporting that the S5 will launch in that fashion and that it will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Gear 2 smart watch on Feb. 24. The event will be a bit less flashy than the Galaxy S4's unveiling, according to those familiar with the matter. Invitations to this Samsung sponsored "Unpacked" event were sent out earlier this week.

The Times also confirmed that the device would feature a 16-megapixel camera and would not have the rumored iris scanner on board. This report is in line with a previous one that quoted words from Samsung's VP who said the S5 will be a "back to basics" device.
