Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Release Announced by Samsung
Samsung announced the release for the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2, KitKat update for users in Arabia this week.
A Facebook user questioned Samsung Arabia's page which answered by saying that the update will arrive before the end of this month.
"Hello Ashif, the KitKat update will be available by end of this month. Thanks for your patience," the company wrote.
This will be the official OTA update for the 2012 smartphone. The Galaxy S4 update is available on most carriers throughout the world.
Owners of the smartphone in Rogers Wireless in Canada will finally have access to the Android 4.4, KitKat update.
The software weighs in at 414.46MB and can be accessed OTA (over-the-air). Users who haven't received a notification to download it can check the Settings menu.
The Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2, KitKat update is also rolling out to T-Mobile customers in the U.S.
That update is now available over-the-air and weighs in at 388MB. It brings a modified version of Android KitKat OS with a few Samsung specific tweets.
It will bring improved stability, a new camera shortcut on the lock screen and a better on-screen keyboard. The update can also be downloaded manually through Samsung KIES. T-Mobile suggests that those downloading KitKat to their phone should be running the latest version of KIES. The device should also have about 50 percent charge since installation can be draining. Smartphones must already be running Android 4.3 in order to get 4.4.
The company released a list of those that will upgrade via press release earlier this year that included the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3, Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.
