Galaxy S4 Active Android 4.3, JellyBean Update Rolling Out

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Android 4.3, JellyBean update is finally rolling out.

It is 721MB and will need to be downloaded through a Wi-Fi connection.

AT&T still has not uploaded the changelog notes and took the online version down from its website last week. The update was originally expected to launch at an earlier date but was pulled for a last minute bug correction. AT&T did not officially announce the update, however, it is already rolling in a many areas.

The new update will bring Galaxy Gear compatibility, drag and drop options to uninstall or disable apps, and AT&T's signature Experience preloads such as Kindle, Lookout, City ID, Password Keeper, Games and AT&T Mobile Protection. It will also change the handset's baseband version to I537UCUBML2.

The Galaxy S4 Active was released for AT&T back in June of last year.

The Galaxy S4 Active is a high-performance smartphone to stylish, protective design to keep up with the demands of everyday life," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices and developer services for AT&T.

"With its quad-core processor and access to the nation's largest 4G network and fastest 4G LTE network you can stay connected nearly anywhere life takes you," he added.

The Galaxy S4 Active functions as a water and dust proof version of the original Samsung flagship. The device is IP67 certified and is able to capture photos and videos underwater.

Specifications on the Galaxy S4 Active include a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, 2,600mAh battery, a 5-inch Full HD TFT LCD screen (443 ppi) and a new feature called "Glove Touch" that allows users to operate the handset's touchscreen while wearing a glove.

The Active model also comes with an 8-megapixel camera that can be used underwater with another new feature known as Aqua Mode. This can be used to increase the visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and video.
