Galaxy S4 Release Date Pushed Back on Sprint and T-Mobile
The release date for the Galaxy S4 has been pushed back for Sprint and T-Mobile customers, with both carriers citing inventory challenges as the reason for the delay.
T-Mobile was originally scheduled to offer the Galaxy S4 in its online store from yesterday. However, the carrier informed customers on Tuesday night that it would be delaying the launch until Monday, April 29.
Sprint originally intended to begin selling the Galaxy S4 on April 27, but the carrier has also been forced to change its plans and is now taking orders online with limited supplies being sold in its retail locations. The official online Sprint release should be this Saturday.
Verizon had already pushed its release date behind other carriers before this news. The carrier was supposed to release the device on April 30 with shipments sometime in May. AT&T will begin offering the Galaxy S4 on April 27 in its stores.
The handset will officially be unveiled in India on April 26.
The company has already begun sending out invites to the press for the event where the device will be introduced. It is expected to go on sale just days after the initial unveiling takes place.
The price for the Galaxy S4 in India is rumored to be Rs. 40,000 which is equivalent to US $737.16.
The cheapest place to purchase the Galaxy S4 in the U.S. at this time is Walmart. The device retails at $168 with a new 2-year contract.
Those who pre-order the device through the retailer will be able to purchase the Galaxy S4 at this reduced price. In order to secure the deal, several steps are required which are detailed on the website.
The unlocked Galaxy S4 model is already available for purchase on eBay. The Korean-electronics giant's flagship smartphone is posted for sale on the site for $739.
