Galaxy S5 Rumors: New Concept Video Features Device Stealing From iPhone 5s

A new concept video for the Galaxy S5 released by Rozetked features a version of the device that has its own version of Apple's Touch ID.

However, the designers chose to alter the name a bit calling it Reach ID. They also changed it significantly from Apple's fingerprint sensor as the device could be accessed by touching it anywhere instead of just on the home button. Users will be able to put their finger on any part of the screen to unlock it. The full video showing off this concept is now available. See it here.

Reach ID can also unlock the S5 by listening to the owner's voice. The concept video shows voice features that let users create a workflow for their device. Any app can be opened using it and videos and pictures could be accessed as well.

The Galaxy S5 is expected to launch next year along with the Galaxy Note 4. Both of these new devices could end up featuring chips with 4GB RAM.

This week the company announced the development of the industry's first 8GB LPDDR4 mobile DRAM chip which is denser, faster, and more energy efficient than any of the products currently found on the market.

The new memory chip is built on a 20-nm class process which allows manufacturers to reach a capacity of 1GB of RAM on a single die. Smartphone makers will be able to give their devices 4GB of RAM by combining four of these chips.

They will make appearances on future high-end smartphones, tablets, and notebooks that have higher density displays. Both the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 are expected to feature WQHD screens with 2560x1440 pixels. 4GB of RAM will certainly help to power these displays and run apps smoothly.

Samsung is also able to shrink the size of this immensely powerful chip by using smaller circuitry and with LPDDR4 technology. It is also faster and consumes less energy than LPDDR3 chips. The company stated that the new memory provides 50 percent higher performance that the fastest LPDDR3 or DDR3 chips currently available. Energy consumption is reduced significantly while data transfer speed is increased.
