Galaxy S5 vs. LG G2: Who Has the Better Battery?
The Samsung Galaxy S5 features a battery that can outlast those found on other popular smartphones such as the LG G2.
A new set of tests conducted by smartphone.bg proved that the GS5's battery could outlast the LG G2 in various areas. Here is another comparison of the specs of both of these amazing smartphones with these latest battery stats figured in.
Battery
In three different tests the Galaxy S5 was able to beat out the LG G2. Both devices were tested for talk time, 3D Gaming, and Internet browsing and were measured in minutes. In talking, the Galaxy S5 lasted 1500 min while the LG G2 lasted 1492 min, in 3D gaming the Galaxy S5 lasted 278 min while the LG G2 lasted for 222 min, and in Internet browsing the Galaxy S5 lasted for 628 min and the LG G2 went for 583. The LG G2 lasted significantly less in each test.
Display
The Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Display with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The LG G2 packs a 5.2-inch True HD LCD capacitive touchscreen with the same resolution at 424 ppi. The features on the G2 were quite similar to the Nexus 5. The Galaxy S5 display is slightly bigger than the S4's, however, the rest of the numbers seem to be the same. It's probably safe to say that the smartphones are close to being even in this category.
Camera
The LG G2 features a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, optical image stabilization and LED flash. The Galaxy S5 comes with a 16-megapixel shooter and some new features such as Selective Focus, High Dynamic Range and the fastest auto focus on the market. Both of these handsets probably take great pictures, but the Galaxy S5 would have to take it in this area thanks to some of the new goodies that come along with the point-and-shooter.
Processor
The Galaxy S5 comes with a Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM while the G2 packs a Snapdragon 800 2.6GHz quad-core chip with the same amount of RAM. There's not much of a difference here. One of the deciding factors could be the software as Samsung has a reputation for overloading its devices with unnecessary things. Even with that, these handsets are pretty even in this department.
Design
The "glam" Galaxy S5 shines and impresses those who thirsted for a change with the Samsung line. The LG G2's aesthetics do little to innovate as it features a plain black body giving it the appearance of an average smartphone. Despite its impressive hardware, the LG G2 really plays it safe with the exterior which allows Samsung to take it in this area.
Conclusion
The LG G2 is definitely a formidable opponent for the Galaxy S5, however, it does little to bring innovation to the smartphone market. Samsung's weak attempts at change are better than LG's lack thereof. Consumers really cannot go wrong with either of these handsets, however, those looking for a more cutting edge device should go with the GS5. The difference in battery life also gives Samsung's device an advantage.
