Galaxy S8 Problems, Issues: Users Complain of Not Receiving Most Text Messages
Several Samsung Galaxy S8 owners recently complained about not receiving all of their text messages for unknown reasons.
In the past week, some sub-Reddit threads were created by various Galaxy S8 owners who complained that they were not receiving most of their text messages. Unfortunately, the issue does not seem to be a network problem since the affected users were subscribed to different carriers.
One of the earliest cases reported was from a Reddit user who shared over two weeks ago that she noticed she had not been receiving a number of her messages. Although the original post appears to have been deleted already, it was noted that several other users commented on the issue and shared their own experiences.
About a week after, another Reddit user started a new thread and asked others if they were experiencing the same issue. This time around, the device in question was an unlocked S8+ that was using an AT&T network.
In this thread, other Reddit users shared that they experienced the same problem when they were using the third-party messaging app called Textra. Another S8 owner said when they switched back to the Samsung stock Message app, the messages started to arrive as they should.
Meanwhile, another thread for the same S8 messaging problem was created on Reddit just last week. In the comments, one user named csmattd claimed to have experienced the same issue and fixed it.
Reddit user csmattd suggested that the issue could be caused by a setting that puts the stock Message app to sleep when the battery is on power saver mode. The affected users were advised to check this aspect by going to the Settings app, opening the Device Maintenance menu, and then selecting the Battery IIRC tab.
With several reports now up on social media platforms, it is becoming evident that affected users have different situations and it is hard to pinpoint one main cause for the issue, especially since Samsung has yet to address the matter.
