'Game of Thrones' Cast News, Update: Freddie Stroma Joins Show as Samwell Tarly's Younger Brother; English Actor Rumored for a Season 6 Role?

Although the long wait for the return of HBO's hit fantasy drama TV series "Game of Thrones" has just begun, a handful of updates from different media sources indicate that the show is apparently moving forward in getting the pieces together for its sixth season. These updates include a handful of casting news and behind-the-scene sneak peeks.

Starting off with the actors, it is reported over at DenofGeek.us that right over the Labor Day weekend, it has been confirmed by the HBO PR that Freddie Stroma will be joining the show as Dickon, the younger brother to John Bradley's Samwell Tarly of the Night's Watch.

Avid book readers may remember Dickon appearing in "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance of Dragons" from the novel series of George R.R. Martin.

Still on the casting issue, Variety.com also reported that English actor and screenwriter Richard E. Grant is coming to the show in a yet to be disclosed role.

According to the publication, the "Withnail and I" actor's talent agency has added the HBO programming in his list of gigs. Although it was already removed, several screengrabs revealed that his role was noted "various," meaning the 58-year-old would be likely to appear in multiple episodes next year. Speculations however, are rife that the actor might take on the part of either Maester Marwyn or Lord Redwyne.

The Telegraph, meanwhile, covered the story of a drone that allegedly captured some behind-the-scenes footage of the Season 6 filming.

As divulged by the media outlet, the video was "sneakily" taken on the Game of Thrones set in Ballintoy, Northern Ireland. It captured some "dramatic scenes of the location."

The clip, which can be accessed here, featured the cast and crew doing the scenes for the upcoming chapter. Fans are warned though as these locations shots could be a potential spoiler.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 premieres 2016 on HBO.
