'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Spoilers: Cersei Craves Vengeance But is 'on Her Way' Toward Downfall
"Game of Thrones" season four is sweeping viewer ratings with its dramatic and fantastical entertainment, and another installment coming to HBO this Sunday.
This week's episode is entitled "Oathkeeper" and it will continue to follow the tumult caused by King Joffrey's shocking death. For spoilers surrounding season four as well as the April 27, keep reading.
According to a sneak peek at "Oathkeeper," it is clear Cersei is ardently seeking justice for her son Joffrey's untimely and horrific death at his wedding. The queen once more, Cersei is pointing fingers not only at her younger brother, Tyrion, but also his wife, Sansa, according to the clip.
"If I told you to leave the capital right now and find Sansa, and bring me her head, would you do it," Cersei asks her twin brother Jaime, who fathered King Joffrey.
After a glimpse of Jaime reaching for a sword, it is easy to believe that he will do anything for Cersei, even if he thinks that Sansa is not guilty of killing Joffrey. "GOT" fans also know that Jaime is violent and forceful at times, especially when it comes to Cersei- as revealed in last week's controversial rape scene involving the pair.
Nevertheless, actress Lena Headey, who portrays Cersei, revealed clues about what is in store for her ruthless character in a recent interview.
"Cersei's incredibly selfish. I find her pretty delightful," the actress explained to Vulture. "And I kind of understand why she does what she does. And yeah, yeah, this season is pretty much the beginning of her downfall. She's on her way, she's really climbing the stairs, and then she will eventually fall off the edge. Which is exciting! It's endlessly exciting to me. She is just constant change."
Moreover, the sneak peek revealed that Jon Snow's reentrance to the Night's Watch is creating tension with the group's leader, while Khaleesi's army continues growing in numbers.
"I will answer injustice with justice," the Dragon Mother cries in the promo.
"Game of Thrones" airs on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. EST. The synopsis for "Oathkeeper" is as follows: "Jon welcomes volunteers; Bran, Jojen, Meera and Hodor seek shelter; Jaime and Brienne discuss his honor; Daenerys balances justice and mercy."
