'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Spoilers: No Hodor or Bran in Upcoming Season

Fans will find that some beloved characters on "Game of Thrones" will be noticeably absent once the show comes back to HBO for its fifth season. It can be recalled that Tywin Lannister was killed by Tyrion in the shocking season four finale, so expect that he won't be seen in the upcoming season, but who else will be missed?

TVLine reports that Hodor (Kristian Nairn) and Bran Stark won't be back for season 5 — not because their characters have been killed off, but because the ever-expanding story of "Game of Thrones" will be focusing on other characters and other parts of Westeros.

"We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books," says Nairn in a recent interview with Yahoo! "So I got my year off now to do [my DJ show] Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world."

Though Hodor and Bran won't be around in season 5, new characters have been added to the show. At Comic-Con in San Diego, it was announced that Alexander Siddig (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) will be playing Doran Martell, the ruler of Dorne and Oberyn Martell's older brother.

The roles of Oberyn's illegitimate daughters have also been cast, and the three women, collectively known in the George R.R. Martin novels as the Sand Snakes, will be played by Rosabell Laurenti Sanders as Tyene Sand, Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand, and Jessica Henwick as Nym Sand.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Price ("Pirates of Caribbean") has been cast as a religious leader named High Sparrow. The series also recast Cersei's daughter Myrcella, previously played by Aimee Richardson, and will now be played by Nell Tiger Free.

"Game of Thrones" Season 5 will premiere on HBO in 2015.
