While there is still no confirmation on the return of Jon Snow for the upcoming season, Kit Harington was also seen on set previously, causing speculations on the happenings of season 6. With that, George R.R. Martin was recently asked about his plans for the sixth season.

He said, "I haven't written the ending yet, so I don't know, but no. That's certainly not my intent. I've said before that the tone of the ending that I'm going for is bittersweet. I mean, it's no secret that Tolkien has been a huge influence on me, and I love the way he ended Lord of the Rings."

Martin is currently working on the sixth installment of his novels titled "The Winds of Winter." Meanwhile, writers of the Game of Thrones series have been hinting on their approach for the season to come. They shared that they are planning to feature past characters and storylines that were not presented in Martin's novels.

Game of Thrones season 6 is set to premiere next year in April.
