'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 News: Series May Run For Two More Seasons; Will Feature The 'Biggest Moments On TV'

"Game of Thrones" will run for two more seasons after its sixth run this year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is close to securing the deal that would make Seasons 7 and 8 of the top-rated fantasy drama series a reality. THR reports that the news was shared by HBO's President of Programming Michael Lombardo to a small group of reporters at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour on Thursday, Jan 7. The revelation came shortly after the network announced that Season 6 of "Game of Thrones" will air its premiere episode on April 24.

The new two-season deal is the second for the award-winning HBO series based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of novels by George R.R. Martin. The first dual order that "Game of Thrones" scored was for its renewal for Seasons 5 and 6 back in 2014.

According to THR, an official announcement from HBO about the two new seasons is expected to happen soon. "Game of Thrones" is HBO's longest-running and most-watched series to date.

Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on "GoT," gave fans something to speculate on as they await the sixth season of "Game of Thrones." Speaking to E! at the HBO Golden Globes party, Clarke said, "I really can't say much apart from you'll see the biggest moments on television that have ever existed."

Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell on the show, also dropped some hints from the red carpet. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly from the Golden Globes' red carpet, Dormer said of her "GoT" character, "Well she's not dressing like this anymore."

"She's effectively in a sack in a prison cell, but she's doing her damndest to get out of it," she revealed.

Margaery was last seen being thrown into prison, but from Dormer's comments, the young lady from Highgarden may be a free woman soon.

The sixth season of "Game of Thrones' debuts on Sunday, April 24, on HBO.
