'Garo: Vanishing Line' Air Date, Spoilers: A Conspiracy Connected to 'El Dorado' Begins in Upcoming Anime Series
Tokusatsu meets anime for the third time as the "Garo" franchise releases its third animated series titled "Garo: Vanishing Line."
Set in the prosperous and successful city of Russell, the series tells the story of a man named Sword and how he comes to hear the first stirrings of a plot designed to shake the aforementioned city to its very core. And not one to let such a large scale conspiracy happen on his watch, Sword subsequently throws himself into a shadow war in an attempt to expose it with the only clue he has; that is, the word El Dorado.
Joining him in this quest is a woman named Sophie whose missing older brother has left her with a message bearing the same keyword. And since Sword has lost a younger sister in the past, they will quickly warm up to each other's company and thus work together to get to the bottom of the mysterious keyword and how it relates to the conspiracy as well as to the disappearance of Sophie's brother.
The series is being produced by MAPPA under the direction of Seong Ho Park, who has also previously worked as a key animator in the popular sports anime, "Yuri!!! on Ice," and is now making his directorial debut on television. Series scripts will be done by Kiyoko Yoshimura, with Takashi Okazaki taking care of character design and Tomohiro adapting those designs for animation.
JAM Project, who has also worked for previous "Garo" installments, will be returning once more to perform the upcoming series' opening theme titled, "EMG," while the band's member, Masami Okui, will be performing the ending theme titled, "Sophia."
"Garo the Animation," and "Garo: Crimson Moon" were released in 2014 and 2015, respectively, followed by a 2016 movie sequel titled "Garo: Divine Flame."
Kareken Releasing has reportedly licensed the original live-action series and is now planning on releasing the first 13 episodes on Blu-ray next month. The series has become available on HIDIVE back in June, and Karaken is also planning on releasing the subsequent installments in the popular franchise.
"Garo: Vanishing Line" premieres on Friday, Oct. 6, late night at 1:23 a.m. JST on TV Tokyo and late night at 2:10 a.m. JST on TV Osaka. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site.
