'Gears of War 4' News, Update: Latest Game Installment More 'Intimate, Dark, and Mysterious'?
While there's still no concrete detail as when "Gears of War 4" will be released, new update indicates that the new instalment will be returning to the franchise's classic horror roots.
The report from VC Post said that the latest title will be "something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious," the aspects which echo the first "Gears of War" title.
The media outlet also revealed that The Coalition, formerly known as Microsoft Vancouver and Black Tusk Studios, has released a new trailer during the E3 2015 in Los Angeles.
Following the unveiling of the 7-minute world premiere demo, The Coalition's studio head Rod Fergusson confirmed to the public that the forthcoming title will indeed go back to the "Gears of War" roots.
"We're going back to something personal, intimate, dark, and mysterious, being afraid of the boogeyman," he informed IGN.
Pointing out to the teaser clip, Fergusson said that "we always thought of it as a tease. People expected a flash of logo and a Marcus poem, and we wanted to overshoot that. Why not do a tease that speaks to the mood and the tone of the game?"
Fergusson went on to divulge how the studio wants to portray the opposing forces in the game which, as he revealed, will depart from the conventional good versus evil plot line.
"The stories have changed a lot from 10 years ago. Back in the day people expected stories to be black and white, there's good and bad. Today, people want a lot of grey, a lot moral ambiguity, things that are open to interpretation about what's right and wrong," he said.
