George and Amal Clooney: Their first wedding anniversary celebration

If power couples are discussed, it doesn't get much more powerful than George and Amal Clooney. When the two met last year, Amal had certainly been a change from the usual supermodels that Clooney is seen with. Not that Clooney hasn't been dating classy women, but Amal is certainly a whole new level, being a well-established lawyer and fashionista. Clooney was then a serial monogamist, and so when George had asked Amal's hand for marriage and said their "I dos" in a private yet lavish wedding ceremony, the whole world was shocked.

Now, it has been a year since the couple consummated their marriage, and despite what many assumed would be a short relationship, they definitely seem going strong as ever. According to Perez Hilton, The couple, who celebrated their first year being Mr. and Mrs. Clooney last Sept. 27, opted for a simple pre-anniversary low-key dinner last Friday in Asanebo Japanese restaurant in California. Unlike other celebrity couples who will choose to mark the occasion with incredibly fashionable clothes, 54-year-old George chose a casual brown shirt and jeans, while 35-year-old Amal was wearing a stylish and classy simple black and white striped white dress. One of the suspected reasons why the two decided to go for an early celebration is so George can spend Sunday speaking at late-producer Jerry Weintraub's memorial service.

George and Amal are notoriously private with their lives, only choosing what they want to share with the public. Since George has always been such a public figure in the entertainment industry, his life is an open book; however, for Amal Clooney, who Barbara Walters tagged as the "Most Fascinating Person of 2014," little is really known. Even though she often handles high-profile cases, Amal chooses to shy away from the limelight by not taking on interviews with just anyone, and only acknowledged marrying George in an issue of "Vogue" in 2014.
