George Clooney Aims to Kick 'The Hell Out Of Breaking Dawn'
Oscar-winning actor George Clooney has said that he wants to beat the upcoming “Twilight” movie with his own film, which also premieres Friday.
“The Descendants” will compete with the highly anticipated fourth movie in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1” in theaters this weekend.
“There’s a lot of talk that we’re going to beat them,” Clooney said speaking to E!, during the premiere of his new movie Wednesday night in Beverly Hills.
“We’re going against ‘Breaking Dawn,’” said Clooney, “but the big headlines come Monday will be, ‘Descendants’ Kicks the Hell Out of ‘Breaking Dawn.’”
When asked about a headline including the name of a “Twilight” star – “George Clooney Kicks the Hell Out of Robert Pattinson,” Clooney laughed and responded, “Oh, I hope so.”
“The Descendants” also stars Shailene Woodley from “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and Amara Miller who will play Clooney’s 10-year-old daughter. The film was helmed by Alexander Payne who directed “Sideways.” The actor is likely to receive Oscar nods for the upcoming film for his performance.
“You just want to make movies that you like, honestly,” said Clooney when asked about the Oscars. “Does anyone really remember who won three years ago? You really don’t. But I remember ‘All The President’s Men’ and I remember ‘Network’ and I remember ‘Taxi Driver.’ I pay attention to the stuff I really love, which is making films. The rest of it, I don’t worry about so much.”
According to Access Hollywood, Clooney thinks very highly of his onscreen daughters portrayed by Woodley and Miller.
On 20-year-old Woodley, Clooney said, “She’s something else. She’s a very special girl; I think she’s going to have an amazing career.”
“The Descendants” as well as “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1” hit theaters everywhere Friday.
