Friends including Super Model Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber surrounded the happy couple at Gerber's Cafe Habana in celebration of their engagement. Clooney, 52, proposed to the British lawyer, 36, last month after less than a year of dating.
"After the toast, George and his fiancée were all over each other," a source told People magazine adding that there was "lots of hugging."
Also in attendance was U2's Bono and insiders say several guests performed karaoke during the happy occasion. Sunday was Mother's Day and other patrons at the restaurant reportedly enjoyed the star-studded crowd.
"People got a show they didn't expect and other [restaurant patrons] said it was the best Mother's Day ever," a source told E! News.
Clooney and Alamuddin both sported dark shades and appeared to be in good spirits as they mingled with guests. They eventually left with various gifts and flowers.
"He has found someone who is as smart as he is and who is her own independent woman," an alleged friend revealed. "Amal seems to be the best fit for him he's ever had."
The engagement celebration comes days after reports claimed the couple have chosen a wedding date. While they have reportedly discussed London as a potential wedding location, they are still undecided.
"The wedding is to take place in September," an insider told RadarOnline.com.
"They've told family and friends they will only disclose the location at the last minute, and it will be very private," the source continued. "Neither George nor Amal want the wedding to be a public affair — and her family really doesn't either."
In addition to wedding planning the Hollywood actor and the human rights lawyer are also hoping to start a family.
"[They] definitely want kids ASAP. [Amal's] father is getting older, and he really wants to see her kids [before he dies]," the insider explained.
