The Beatle's George Harrison Documentary Acquired by HBO
George Harrison: Living in the Material World, based on the life of former Beatles singer George Harrison, will air on HBO in Northern America this fall.
Directed by Martin Scorsese, the documentary chronicles Harrison’s life using rare photographs, video footage, unreleased Beatle’s footage, and much of the story told by George Harrison himself.
Living in the Material World also includes interviews with fellow Beatles Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Terry Gilliam, and John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, among others.
Scorsese worked closely with Harrison’s widow, Olivia, who provided him with much of the never-before-seen footage of the singer.
"Spending time with Olivia, interviewing so many of George's closest friends, reviewing all of that footage, some of it never seen before, and listening to all of that magnificent music -- it was a joy, and an experience I'll always treasure," Scorsese said in a statement published on the official site of George Harrison.
Harrison, who died in 2001 of cancer at 58, was a musician, spiritual seeker, philanthropist, and filmmaker.
Olivia Harrison plans to release a “coffee table” book in September also called George Harrison: Living in the Material World which will contain letters, photos, and other memorabilia from Harrison’s life.
