George Zimmerman Released From Prison
George Zimmerman, accused of the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, has been released from prison, a move that has sparked an angry response from various groups.
After an initial public outcry at Zimmerman not being arrested in Martin's killing, many were beginning to be appeased once the arrest occurred two months after the incident. However, hearts may be tested once again now that he has been released from prison.
Released on bail, Zimmerman was able to leave the Florida prison that was holding him at midnight, Monday, April 23. Three days before, a judge set his bail for $150,000 despite the Assistant State Bernie de la Rionda's urge to set his bail closer to $1 million, citing previous charges against Zimmerman, including a woman who named him in a domestic violence injunction.

In order for Zimmerman, 28, to be released, his family had to raise at least $15,000. Taken away in the early morning hours from the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida, he declined to speak to any reporters, according to CNN.
Zimmerman, who was charged last Wednesday with second degree murder, has claimed self defense in light of Martin's February 26 death. Acting as a self-appointed neighborhood watchman, Zimmerman saw Martin walking in his gated neighborhood wearing a hoodie. According to what Zimmerman has told police, it was the hoodie that made Martin suspicious.
