German Forest Boy Case Raises Skepticism, Doubt
The story of a German boy named Ray, who was allegedly left in the woods and lived there for five years, has caused skepticism among those familiar with the case. Police stated yesterday that there was no way he had been in the woods that long, raising doubt on Ray's story and leading to many more questions.
The 17-year-old boy appeared at City Hall in Berlin just last month, after apparently residing in the forest for over five years. His parents, he claimed, had both died and Ray was left all alone. After his dad died in August, Ray set out to find civilization, finally arriving at City Hall.
Authorities took him into custody and had him looked over for possible injuries. They determined that Ray was in perfect physical health, with no injuries or illness, which led to skepticism of his claim to have been in the woods for five years. Now police are asking for anyone who recognizes Ray from a photograph released yesterday to come forward and fill in the blanks.

The police were able to obtain a DNA sample from Ray, but so far it has not led to any findings.
"We have checked his DNA against all missing person reports, sent the data to Interpol so that they could check it internationally, but unfortunately, without any success," police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf told the Huffington Post.
Ray now attends school in Germany but speaks English without a trace of an accent, adding mystery to the case. Since starting school in September, Ray has quickly picked up the German language and adapted to urban life.
"Everything gives the impression that he was not far away from civilization for years," Neundorf added.
