'Ghost Recon Wildlands' Open Beta Download Now Available, Needs 23.55 GB Space for the PC

"Ghost Recon" fans, grab it while it lasts. The "Ghost Recon Wildlands" beta is now open to the public for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and the PC. The open beta will run for five days starting Feb. 23 until Feb. 27.

Ubisoft has released a pre-loader for gamers to download and install the game even before the open beta starts. And for good reason — a completely new download means a hefty 23.55 GB for the PC. The benefit of upgrading from the closed beta version, if one is fortunate enough to have been invited, hardly helps. An upgrade of the closed beta for the Xbox One is still a huge 20.8 GB, and 21 GB on the PS4.

Why is the download so huge? Bitbag offers an explanation from the email sent by Ubisoft to its closed beta testers. Aside from a slew of changes from the closed beta to the open preview, the update also includes a new map, as well as an entire new province for the open beta version.

The Express has the details on the new provinces included in the open beta. Out of the 21 provinces that will go into the final game, the preview includes Itacua and Muntoyoc.

Itacua is a mountainous province that serves as a good introduction point to the rest of the Wildlands. A thriving area that's relatively free from the influence of the cartel, its vantage points and clear sightlines make it ideal for practicing with the sniper rifle.

Muntoyoc is a step up from Itacua in terms of difficulty, and the experience from the first province will prove invaluable in facing the elite combatants in the area. Set in snowy Altiplano, the province is home to the Santa Blanca training facilities.

The open beta is expected to bring the solo or co-op gameplay options from the closed beta. Whether doing solo play or with a team of up to three friends, players can test the weapons, equipment and vehicles in the missions available in this latest preview of "Ghost Recon Wildlands."
