Gia Allemand Dead: Boyfriend Ryan Anderson Speaks Out
Gia Allemand's death has came as a shock to family, friends, and fans. Her boyfriend, NBA star Ryan Anderson, issued a statement after her death.
"I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends, and fans. Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out, and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile," Anderson told Us Weekly.
Anderson was the one to find Allemand, who allegedly hanged herself. He took her to the hospital where she was later taken off of life support "due to a critical loss of brain and organ function," a statement from the family said.
"Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend and other life-long friends by her side," the statement continued. "Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets… On behalf of the family, we sincerely ask for privacy at this time."
The former "Bachelor" contestant was a strong Christian, who often tweeted Bible verses; her final Tweet came from the book of Proverbs.
"Proverbs 21:3 'Doing what is right and fair pleases the Lord more than an offering,'" Allemand wrote on Sunday, just one day before taking her life. It was a stark message that offered no insight into her state of mind.
"She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed," Anderson said in his statement. "All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith, and love that we shared."
The 29-year-old became well-known for her appearance on "The Bachelor." Even though she didn't win, she was a fan favorite. Other "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants offered their condolences to the family and paid tribute to their alum.
