Gionee Marathon M5 Launched in India, Available on Flipkart with 6,020 mAh Battery, 3 GB of RAM Variant
Shenzhen-based mobile phone manufacturer Gionee has finally released its smartphone called Marathon M5 in India. According to Android Central, the device was introduced during a press conference in Bangalore. It will be exclusively available on Flipkart for only Rs. 17,999.
Among its features and specs, the new smartphone's highlight is its massive battery pack. It is reported to provide every user long battery life through its two 3,010 mAh batteries, which gives a total of 6,020 mAh. Gionee claims that the handset will last up to four days on a single charge if the device is used light to moderately.
The Indian Express detailed that the device is also developed with reverse charging. This means that the Marathon M5 can basically be used as a power bank and capapble of charging other devices. Users will only need to buy the reverse charging cable in order to make it happen. There is also an extreme mode which is said to help save battery life if it is down to 5%. This mode can lift the battery standby time up to 62 hours by confining access to phone calls, messages, contacts and clocks. It's also said to have a fast charging system but it's not revealed yet how long it will take for the dual battery set up to be fully charged.
NDTV Gadgets noted that the Marathon M5 also features a 5.5-inch HD AMOLED display with 720x1280 pixels resolution. It is powered with a 64-bit 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC and runs with the operating system Android 5.1 Lollipop. A variant of the phablet has been released in India so now there's a unit with a 3 GB of RAM with 32 GB internal storage. Units launched globally contain 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB built-in storage.
It also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Interested consumers can choose from the color options which include White, Gold, and Black.
