Gionee Steel 3 Specs, Release Date: Purported Device Hits TENAA
A new Gionee device believed to be the third entry in the company's Steel series has popped by the Chinese certification agency TENAA.
The handset is referred to as a Gionee GN5006L and based on the specs and images provided in the listing, it will be a budget-friendly entry-level mobile offering.
The purported Gionee Steel 3 comes with a 5.5-inch high-definition resolution and is powered by an octa-core 1.4GHz processor believed to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435, which is an upgrade from the quad-core processor that came with the GN5006L.
The TENAA listing also reveals that the Gionee GN5006L will offer up 2 to 3 GB of random-access memory and 16 GB and 32 GB of storage expandable with a microSD card.
Being an entry-level phone, the Gionee Steel 3 is not expected to sport the latest mobile trends including an all-screen front panel and a dual camera setup, at least not at a premium level that flagships do.
The initial images from TENAA show that the Gionee GN5006L will have fairly thin bezels though. Android Headlines even points out how the company has teased the release of "bezel-free" handsets later this month and this mystery device could easily be one of them. For now, nothing has been confirmed though.
The imaging department will be made up of an 8 MP snapper on the back and another 8 MP camera on the front. Android 7.1.1 Nougat will run the show out of the box with a massive 4,000-mAh battery, which the last-generation version had, set to keep the lights on.
The Gionee Steel 2 was launched in December last year but was not made available for purchase until January of this year. It looks like its successor is coming early, that is if the GN5006L is the Steel 3. Thankfully, it won't be long before fans know for sure as Gionee has a launch event on Nov. 26.
