'Girl Meets World' Season 3 Release Date, Plot News: Girls Enter New Saga in High School
Following the success of the previous seasons in the "Girl Meets World" franchise, Disney has renewed the show for a third season that is expected to feature the two best friends' journey into high school.
According to Deadline, Disney reported that the series is No. 1 among all television networks focusing on children as their primary audience. It is also one of the top 5 cable TV series of the year, the show being a hit for kids aged 2-11 as well as teens aged 9-14.
Season 2 ended with Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) finally graduating and prepping for their entry into a new saga of life, high school.
The upcoming season is expected to challenge not only the best friends' aims at higher education but most especially their relationships as they bloom into teenagers and have supposedly said goodbye to their activities as youngsters.
Carter Matt notes that there has always been a love triangle between Riley, Lucas (Peyton Meyer), and Maya and while the two remain the best of friends, things might get a little bit different in high school. This is true especially since high school is known to be the starting point of building personal relationships, particularly those related to romance.
Production will start in January and the rest of the team is expected to reprise their roles, with Ben Savage as Cory, Danielle Fishel as Topanga, August Maturo as Auggie, and Corey Fogelmanis as Farkle.
Another hot topic about the third installment is who Lucas chooses between Riley and Maya. The love triangle twist was revealed in season 2's finale and sparked the battle between Riley and Maya fans who believe Lucas will pick one over the other.
Meanwhile, the season is also expected to teach the two girls how important their choices in life are since the decisions they make, particularly in their early lives, will definitely affect their future.
"Girl Meets World" season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in spring 2016.
