Speculations heated up after the writers of the series teased that "something else" will begin in the premiere of "Girl Meets World" Season 3. This caused fans to believe that Riley and Maya, played by Sabrina Carpenter, could soon explore the depths of their friendship.
The writers of the series posted on their Official Twitter account, "Not the end of the triangle. Because it's not a triangle. Tonight: The beginning of something else."
The previous episodes of "Girl Meets World" established the deep friendship between Riley and Maya. Rumors soon began to stir that the two could be more than best friends when the series returns. However, some fans are skeptical about this since Maya and Riley are currently in a love triangle between Lucas, played by Peyton Meyer.
The writers also hinted at what the upcoming episodes will present, in comparison to the second season that recently ended. The writers tweeted, "And that's our season of growth. Next: A season of feelings, how they affect us, how we learn to control them, or not. Thanks for watching."
In addition, the executive producer of the series recently spoke to The Wrap about what the characters will face when the new season premieres. He explained that since the characters will be taking on high school, the new environment will play a big role in their relationship. He also stated that the series will compare the lives of Cory and Topanga as children to how their children's lives are nowadays.
