'Girl Meets World' Season 4 News: Showrunner Hopes for Renewal to Happen 'Sooner'

Following the cancellation of "Girl Meets World" on Disney Channel, the showrunner and fans of the series continue to hope for a new installment to be produced. Interested networks have yet to announce if they will pick up the show for another season.

It is speculated that if "Girl Meets World" season 4 is to be picked up by a new network, there will be a new venue. This isn't new in canceled shows that get renewed by new channels. However, in the case of "Girl Meets World," there is still no news about a new home where fans can check out their favorite stars again.

Rumor has it that Netflix or Hulu and other big networks may decide to pick up the series. However, amid the pleas of fans and online petitions, there has been no development so far. It appears that talks are still on the table but no settlement has been reached.

Speaking with The Wrap in January, showrunner Michael Jacobs revealed that he disagrees with Disney's decision to cancel the show. He also revealed that there are several networks "interested" in "Girl Meets World" season 4. Unfortunately, Jacobs didn't drop a name.

Still, Jacobs noted that he believes a decision for the show's renewal will be made soon. "I don't think this thing can go on for three or four months without a decision. I think it will be sooner rather than later," he explained.

In his interview, Jacobs also revealed that the show signed up for four installments. He added that the production team was planning to deliver a "remarkable final year." It didn't happen as Disney announced that "Girl Meets World" season 4 won't happen on the channel.

Still, fans are eager to keep the numbers coming. One petition already has over 18,000 signatories while another, pleading for ABC to pick up the series, boasts of over 55,000 signatures. Another petition asking to continue airing new episodes on a different network has over 22,000 signatures.
