'Girls' season 5 spoilers: Lena Dunham explores Japan
The previous season of "Girls" concluded on a hopeful note, which piqued the curiosity of fans on what's in store in the upcoming season.
Season 4 of the hit HBO series Girls ended with Hannah, played by Lena Dunham, turning over a new leaf after breaking up with Adam, played by Adam Driver. She then chose to pursue a relationship with her colleague, Fran, played by Jake Lacey.
As for the rest of the girls, Shoshanna's (Zoisa Memet) life is also expected to change after she accepts a job offer in Japan. After Jessa's (Jemima Kirke) emotional experiences from the previous season, she then decided to move past her idle life and become a therapist. Meanwhile, Marnie, played by Allison Williams, has two men in her life, Desi, played by Moss-Bachrach, and Ray, played by Alex Karpovsky.
Reports also stated that Jenni Konner, co-showrunner of the series, shared details about what to expect in the upcoming season. She explained, "We'll keep exploring Tad (Peter Scolari) and [Loreen]'s (Becky Ann Baker) story. We have a lot of friends whose parents came out later in life and it's not that clean of a choice or that simple of a choice. It can be terrifying, and I think we're trying to do a realistic version of Tad trying to figure out what he wants and what he's afraid of and how brave he is."
The other co-showrunner and star of the series, Lena Dunham, was also seen in Japan to prepare for the upcoming season of Girls. It was reported that the season will see an episode that will take place in Japan to explore Shoshanna's new life and career under the supervision of her new boss, who will be played by Aidy Bryant. The episode will explore Shoshanna's search for her identity.
There has not yet been a release date announced for Girls season 5. However, the series is expected to return some time next year.
