Giuliana Rancic May Miss Baby Boy's Birth
While Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill are anticipating the arrival of the child via gestational surrogate, the E! News anchor divulged she may miss the birth.
Rancic, 36, announced on "The Today Show" that her coverage of this summer's London Games may prevent her from catching her son's birth.
"The baby is due the end of August, [and] I wrap at the Olympics on August 11, so we are on standby," said the "E! News" host on Monday.
"We think it's going to be OK," she added. "The doctor assured us. He thinks maybe even early September the baby will come."
After a well-documented attempt to have a baby naturally, the Rancics have overcome many hurdles trying to start their family- including Giuliana's breast cancer diagnosis last year. The news correspondent beat the disease though, and expressed she and her husband's excitement to welcome the baby boy while on "Today."
"[Bill] was thrilled, are you kidding me," she joked. "I mean, he would have loved a girl too, but it was funny because I told Bill, 'You realize you can't play ball with him for awhile?' I think he thinks at six months they're going to be playing catch," she joked.
"I'm like, 'Honey, that doesn't happen for a little while,'" Giuliana continued. "He's like, 'I was waterskiing at three years old.' I'm like, 'Slow down, slow down honey!'"
She noted her husband's desire for an athletic child.
"He's like,'I just want an NFL quarterback,'" said Rancic. "I'd like a CEO, but we compromised, and you know what? We'll take healthy."
The couple star on Bravo's reality series named after them, and have been married for almost five years. They are still working toward agreeing on a name for the child.
