Giuliana Rancic Puts Marriage Over Motherhood, Sparks Controversy

Giuliana Rancic caused an uproar after making comments stating that her marriage to Bill takes priority over her son, Duke. The couple just took off on a vacation and left son Duke in the care of others, adding fuel to the fire.

"For us, I find, we put our marriage first and our child second, because the best thing we can do for him is have a strong marriage," Rancic told Us Weekly. "We're husband and wife, but we're also best friends, and it's funny because a lot of people, when they have kids, they put the baby first and the marriage second. That works for some people."

"I think she needs to learn to prioritize her obligations," Reesheda Evans posted on Us Weekly's website. "Yes, your marriage is important, but there are times when the children are more important."

"That marriage might not always be there, but that will always be their baby. If you want kids, they should come first," added Megan Moore. "If you don't want it that way, no one said you had to have babies. Just stay a married, child-free couple."

Part of the anger comes from the fact that the Rancics worked so hard to have a child. After suffering multiple miscarriages, they agreed to hire a surrogate to carry their child. There was talk that Giuliana may not be present for the birth of her son due to her coverage of the Olympics, but she was able to be there for Duke's birth.

She has spoken about the difficulty of having children and said that she wants to have more.

"We'd love to do it, so hopefully it's sooner rather than later," she explained. "I always say to Bill, 'You were my first baby,' because he was! He was my first love and my first baby and Duke is my second baby."

"There's something extremely odd in her referring to her husband as her 'first baby,'" noted Elly on the Daily Mail website. "I'm sorry, but that's just weird."

Now the Rancics have gone on a "post award season vacay," according to Giuliana.
