'Glee' Season 6 Spoilers: Last Season to Have 13 Episodes, Emphasize the Importance of Arts Education
After months of deliberation, Fox has finally decided that "Glee's" sixth and final season will consist of 13 uninterrupted episodes, trimmed down from the usual 22-episode order. According to reports, the producers felt like a straight run of 13 good episodes was a better tribute for fans instead of 22 episodes with breaks.
There have been several changes in the show over the weeks, and one call that has gotten some mixed reactions is Naya Rivera's demotion from series regular to recurring character for the upcoming season. There have been rumors that old cast members will be returning, and "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy has previously suggested that all of them are welcome.
The show is also said to be returning to its roots as Fox hinted via Twitter on June 10.
"We're all be coming back together in Ohio at McKinley- @janemarielynch on the final season of #glee #foxfyc #emmys." Murphy told TVLine that he was "invigorated" about it.
"It's getting back to what I was initially interested in with the show, which was arts in school. The last season is really about the importance of arts education in our high schools … I think people will like it," said Murphy.
There are rumors that Rachel (Lea Michelle) will return to McKinley to put the Glee club back together. In effect, she will be the new Mr. Schuester.
An idea that's also been floated around is to have the Rachel-led New Direction go head to head once again with their old nemesis, Vocal Adrenaline, which will be led by Mr. Schuester.
The sixth and final season of "Glee" is slated to air in early 2015 on Fox.
