"GLOW" is based on a real-life '80s female wrestling group. The show is from the ideas of Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, while "Orange is the New Black" creator Jenji Kohan serves as executive producer.

While Brie and Gilpin's characters are the main focus of the show, "GLOW" also includes an impressive list of female cast members. These are Sydelle Noel (Cherry "Junkchain" Bang), Britney Young (Carmen "Machu Picchu" Wade), Sunita Mani (Arthie "Beirut the Mad Bomber" Premkumar), Gayle Rankin (Sheila the She-Wolf), Kia Stevens (Tammé "The Welfare Queen" Dawson), Kate Nash (Rhonda "Britannica" Richardson) and Ellen Wong (Jenny "Fortune Cookie" Chey). Marc Maron (Sam Sylvia) plays the director who's trying to make "GLOW" into a hit series among wrestling fans.

Netflix released "GLOW" season 1 in June and it belongs to the streaming platform's top 20 most binge-worthy shows. The company has yet to announce the return date for season 2 but it will most likely drop in the summer of 2018.
