'God Bless America' Film Trailer Debuts With Disturbing Themes

In the two minute and 15 second trailer for the film God Bless America, viewers witness multiple homicides, Barack Obama dressed as a Natzi and a group holding signs that read "God hates Jews" and "Thank God for Dead Soldiers."

The trailer for the Bobcat Goldthwait directed film recently premiered on popular blogs and movie sites across the web. Goldthwait, who also wrote the film, included shocking themes with a satirical look at popular culture and religion.

The trailer begins with Frank, played by actor Joel Murray, flipping through channels on his television screen that feature a reality television fight, A doctored picture of Obama that resembles a Natzi soldier and a little boy holding up a sign while screaming "God hates F**s."

The trailer then flashes to Frank's doctor telling him that he has a brain tumor. While Frank initially reacts by watching television and contemplating suicide, the words "Frank has had enough" flash across the screen instead.

Viewers then watch the terminally ill character go on a killing spree, shooting people with the help of a 16-year-old accomplice named Roxy played by Tara Lynne Barr. The pair shoot and kill people who steal parking spaces, seemingly religious extremists and conceited teenagers.

"I only want to kill people who deserve to die," said Frank, the narrator of the trailer. "I know it's not normal to want to kill but I am no longer normal."

Before the film screening at Toronto's Ryerson Theatre on Jan. 27, Goldthwait said some people may misunderstand the message in the film.

"I think people think that I hate and I'm angry at all these things," Goldthwait said. "And that's not really my point. It's that there's this weird undertow right now of people being disenfranchised, but they don't know who to react against. And what we really need to revolt against is ourselves."

Still, some have expressed outraged at the film trailer that popular crude blogger Perez Hilton referred to as "disturbing."

"Sad that culture and society has sunk so low in the U.S. that there's now a movie glorifying a couple of murderous psychos taking their hatred to the next level," one person commented on Hilton's blog. "Unfortunately, I can see this happening. And Hilton has only contributed to the cesspool. Better hope some nut job isn't influenced by this movie."
