'God of War 3' News: 'God of War 3' Remastered Coming to PS4 on July 14
Sony Computer Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio is celebrating the tenth year of the "God of War" franchise with the upcoming release of the "God of War 3" Remastered for PlayStation 4 consoles. It will be released in the US on July 14, and July 17 in the U.K.
"God of War 3" was originally released for the PlayStation 3 in March 2010. The remastered edition of the game for the PlayStation 4 is reported to have higher resolution graphics (now 1080p, as opposed to 720p for the PS3) and a better 60 frames per second performance, according to a report in Eurogamer.
The remastered PS4 edition will retail for $39.99. It is the one and only remastered edition that Santa Monica Studios will release of the "God of War" franchise. According to DualShockers, despite some fans asking about remastering other games in the series, the game's developers are saying that there are no other remasters coming.
They also said why they did this remaster.
"Remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God of War 3 5yrs ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4. People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we'd like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, from generation to generation," Community Strategist Aaron Kaufman explained.
What else is to be expected from the remastered edition? Corly Barlog in his PlayStation blog described it as an "action packed thrill ride that will take series newcomers and regulars alike on a retina-popping thrill ride filled to the absolute brim with 1080p gameplay, silky smooth combat, earth-shaking weapons, bosses you simply have to face to believe." The game will also have a new photo mode which allows players to take snapshots of gameplay and share it with friends.
"God of War 3" is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
