'God of War' PS4 Rumors: Will Upcoming Game Come With a Multiplayer Feature?
Recently spotted Sony Santa Monica job ad seeking a senior multiplayer programmer
The upcoming "God of War" PlayStation 4 game is expected to give the franchise a reboot of sorts, taking the familiar locations and characters fans have come to know and replacing them with some new elements. However, there is a chance that this next installment of the series may also offer something different from a gameplay perspective.
Recent rumblings have even hinted that this PS4 title may come with some kind of multiplayer component.
The reason why these multiplayer rumors started swirling recently is due in large part to a job ad posted by the game's developer, Sony Santa Monica.
In the ad, the studio is looking for a senior multiplayer programmer, someone who will in part be responsible for "multiplayer game programming and testing."
Considering that the new "God of War" game is the most high profile offering that the studio is working on, it is easy to understand why some fans are connecting the dots and coming up with the not entirely unreasonable conclusion that the next installment of the action adventure series may arrive with a multiplayer mode of some kind.
As Just Push Start pointed out, the series has even tried out a multiplayer feature before, with "God of War: Ascension" offering that style of gameplay.
Still, fans may not want to count on the new game getting a multiplayer mode just yet.
Last year, director Cory Barlog spoke with Level Up and revealed that there are no multiplayer features expected to be included in the new game.
It is possible that things have changed since then, but until a multiplayer component is officially announced, these latest rumors may still be interesting but perhaps nothing more than that.
More news about the new "God of War" PS4 game, including when it may be officially released, should be made available in the future.
