Golden Gate Receives Full Accreditation from the Association of Theological Schools

MILL VALLEY, Calif. – The Association of Theological Schools granted full accredited status to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, reaffirming its decision made earlier this summer.

"The accreditation affirmation received from the Association of Theological Schools is affirmation of the ability of our trustees, faculty, staff and students to work together as a team in addressing a number of critical issues surfaced in our last visit by our accrediting agencies," seminary President William O. (Bill) Crews said. "I congratulate all who had a part in making this team effort successful."

The commission also notified the seminary that the Rocky Mountain Campus in Centennial, Colo., is being considered for the possibility of authorizing the full master of divinity and Master of Arts in theological studies degrees. Presently, the Rocky Mountain Campus is authorized to offer only two-thirds of these degree programs onsite.

In addition, ATS agreed to Golden Gate’s revised master of divinity which changed its degree hour requirement from 88 to 81.

"The commission's action reaffirms our commitment to providing contextual theological education in the West," Crews said. "My congratulations and thanks to all at the seminary who worked diligently to make this fine hour possible."

Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary operates in five campuses: in Northern California at Mill Valley, Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Arizona and Colorado.
