Golden State Warriors Clinch Spot for 2016 NBA Finals vs Cleveland Cavaliers: Eye Back-to-Back Championships

Stephen Curry Prepares to Face LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers

It was a back-to-back Western Conference finals victory for the Golden State Warriors who beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday to qualify for the finals game versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A 3-1 series deficit made the Warriors' chances of making it to the finals dim as the OKC gave them serious competition in the seven games they played for the NBA Conference Finals, CBC Sports said. Golden State's 96-88 win cemented their spot in the Finals series which they targeted since Day 1.

It was, however, not an easy victory for the Warriors who rallied to comeback from a 13-point lead of the OKC during the second quarter. Stephen Curry once again worked his magic and contributed a couple of three-pointers to turn the situation around. Before they knew it, the Warriors on top of the game with 13 points more than their opponents.

Curry led his team with 36 points while teammate Klay Thompson contributed 21 more, including six three-pointers which greatly helped the Warriors win Game 7. Even OKC coach Billy Donovan bowed to the talent and skills of the Golden State team.

"This may be the greatest team in the history of the NBA," he told The Guardian. Donovan explained that the Warriors wre able to make big shots and make game-changing moves for the benefit of their team.

Despite his low scoring during the Monday night finale, OKC star Kevin Durant said the team has no regrets. The soon-to-be free agent, who shot 27 points for his team, claimed that they all gave their hearts to the game and worked hard to beat the Warriors.

Now that the Warriors emerged victorious for the Western Conference finals, Curry and the rest of the team will play the much-awaited Finals rematch versus the LeBron James-led Cavs. Last year's NBA Finals hailed the Warriors as the champions after it defeated Cleveland in six games.

Warriors player Draymond Green told South China Morning Post that the team is looking forward to the finals game versus the Cavs. "It'll be fun. You know they're rolling right now, they got a lot of guys going, but looking forward to the challenge," he added.

Cleveland is expected to give a better performance last year with the help of star players Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, who may just make it easier for James to grab another championship. Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said they are continuously practicing to become a better and stronger team.
