Goldie Hawn: Kate Hudson Not Married, Press 'Twisted' My Words
Goldie Hawn is denying that her daughter Kate Hudson and English rock star Matt Bellamy are secretly married, saying news outlets "twisted" her original words.
Goldie Hawn dismissed Kate Hudson's alleged secret marriage via Twitter Monday night, after a user of the popular social media website asked her outright about the truth.
"So are kate and Matt really married, or are the press twisting your words…..as they do…..again! lol," asked one of Hawn's many followers. Surprisingly, the actress responded.
"Darling once again [they] twisted the truth," tweeted Hawn. "They aren't married. Baby they never get it right!"
Despite Hawn's insistence that the two did not secretly marry, it is easy to see why media outlets across the country took her word as truth. In an interview with U.K.-based magazine Evening Standard, the actress let slip her daughter's marital status while discussing parenting.
"When my daughter Kate married an English rock star [Matt Bellamy] it didn't worry me; all that matters is that the relationship is a good one. What people do is not necessarily who they are," Hawn said.
The 66-year-old also called them "fantastic" parents, leading many to believe that the two had been wed.
"My kids are fantastic with their children, they have an amazing parental ethic and I'm very proud of them for that," Hawn told Evening Standard.
Almost immediately, media outlets turned the grandmother's possible slip of the tongue into a full-blown secret wedding.
"Goldie Hawn's big mouth has graduated from spoiling mediocre films to her own daughter's wedding," the Vancouver Sun wrote.
Although Hudson and Bellamy may not be married, the two certainly are building a life together. Their son, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, was born in July 2011. Hudson also confirmed on "The Today Show" in April 2011 that she and the Muse frontman were engaged.
